Cookie notice
Version 1.0 · effective 20 August 2026. This notice explains every cookie this website can set, why, and how to control them.
The short version
This site sets no cookies at all unless you ask us to. There is no advertising, no tracking pixel, no session recording and no data sold or shared with anyone.
The only optional cookies are analytics, and they do not load until you press Accept. Declining costs you no functionality whatsoever, and you can change your mind at any time from the cookie preferences link in our footer.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. Similar technologies — local storage, pixels, SDKs — do much the same job and this notice covers them too.
Categories we use
Strictly necessary — always on
Needed for the site to work and to honour choices you have made. Under UK PECR and the EU ePrivacy Directive these are exempt from the consent requirement, so they cannot be switched off. They store no analytics and no personal identifiers.
Analytics — off unless you accept
Google Analytics 4, used to understand which pages are useful so we can improve them. Nothing loads and no cookie is set until you press Accept. Where you do consent, we have configured it to truncate your IP address before storage and we have switched off Google Signals, advertising features and ad personalisation.
Advertising and marketing — none
We do not use advertising or marketing cookies of any kind, and we have no plans to. If that ever changes we will update this notice and ask for separate consent first.
| Name | Category | Set by | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| quebex.consent | Strictly necessary | Quebex Labs (local storage, not a cookie) | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, so we do not ask again. | Until cleared |
| _ga | Analytics — consent required | Distinguishes one visitor from another so page counts are not double-counted. | 2 years | |
| _ga_<id> | Analytics — consent required | Maintains the analytics session state. | 2 years |
How to control cookies
On this site: use the banner shown on your first visit, or the cookie preferences link in the footer of any page. Accept and Reject carry equal weight — we do not make declining harder than accepting.
In your browser: every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of this site behaving as expected; blocking analytics will not affect anything you can see.
Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends a GPC or Do Not Track signal, we treat it as a decline and do not load analytics.
Legal basis, and your rights
Strictly necessary cookies rely on the exemption in UK PECR regulation 6(4) and the equivalent EU provision. Analytics cookies rely on your consent, which you may withdraw at any time with no consequence.
Where a cookie processes personal data, our privacy notice sets out your rights and how to exercise them.
Changes
We version this notice and show the effective date at the top. If we add a cookie category, we will update this page and ask for fresh consent before anything new loads.
